Flavia Betti Tonini, PhD

Flavia Betti Tonini is an experienced attorney with a solid background in corporate law, compliance, criminal law, and artificial intelligence. With over a decade of experience, she focuses on corporate criminal liability under Italian Legislative Decree 231/2001, serving as a trusted advisor for private and public companies. She is an active member of various supervisory bodies (Organismi di Vigilanza) and advises on corporate governance, regulatory compliance, and risk management strategies.

Flavia is a member of the Environmental and Climate Change Committee of the Council of Bars and Law Societies of Europe (CCBE) for the 2024–2026 term, appointed in this role by the Italian National Bar Council. She is also a member of the Observatory on Science, Justice, and Artificial Intelligence of the Italian Criminal Chambers Union and an external member of the European and International Law Committee of the Italian National Bar Council.

Since 2023, she is a board member of the Trento Bar Association, where she holds multiple roles, among which, Coordinator of the International Relations Committee, a member of the IT and Privacy Committee, and Responsible Officer for Transparency and Corruption Prevention.

Flavia is a frequent speaker at national and international conferences, including the 2024 FBE General Congress in Málaga (“The Lawyer of the Future”) and the 2024 Lisbon conference on legal ethics in the age of AI. She has also delivered specialized training sessions for law enforcement agencies, corporate professionals, and public institutions on compliance, liability, and emerging legal challenges.

She holds a Ph.D. in Comparative and European Legal Studies from the University of Trento, with a dissertation on corporate criminal liability of a group of companies in Italy, France, and Germany. She conducted research at the Max Planck Institute for Foreign and International Criminal Law in Freiburg, Germany. She graduated with a juris doctor degree with honors from the Law School of the University of Trento, Italy.

She is admitted to practice law in Italy.
